I have run both ends of the day at each of them. I bring a separate ceremony system so nothing has to be torn down and rebuilt while your guests are watching.
It depends on the property. Waterfront and city-owned park venues generally finish earlier than hotel ballrooms, and some have a decibel limit written into the rental contract. Your venue sets the hard stop. I build the timeline backwards from it so the last hour is still the best hour instead of a rush.
Peak Saturdays from June through October tend to go twelve to eighteen months out, and long weekends go first. Because I only take one wedding a day and there is only one of me, my calendar closes earlier than a company with several DJs. If you have a date in mind, ask early.
